The wedding of Karissa and Ross was the perfect start to 2017. Their wedding featured so many of my favorite things: two dresses, a slideshow, and the cutest puppy. Not to mention, they chose one of my favorite venue, Thunderbird Chapel, to tie the knot. It was a wonderful night to start a life together.
When we arrived we were greeted by the bride's adorable, little dog. During the couples getting-ready process I took advantage of the beautifully redone bride's room at Thunderbird Chapel to photograph the details (rings, bouquet, dress, shoes, cake). The time came for the ceremony, Karissa glided down the aisle wearing a gorgeous, white, sleeveless, lace dress. Ross grinned ear-to-ear! The ceremony was traditional and included the lighting of the unity candle.
Instead of going straight into formals after the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. McCallay did something new and very neat. Their guest lined up outside the ceremony doors and lit sparklers for a grand exit from ceremony to reception. I loved this idea since it included all the guest and there was no rush at the end of the reception. After a few well wishes we took formal photos of family, wedding party, and the newlyweds alone.
At the reception, a slideshow of the couple falling in love was projected along one wall of the reception room. Karissa and Ross shared their first dance as husband and wife after being introduced to the waiting guest in the reception room. Karissa's long veil surrounded the couple as they spun around the dance floor. Their first dance was followed by the father-daughter dance and mother-son dance. During the feeding of the cake Karissa covered the side of Ross's face with a sneak attack of icing. The couple laughed and kissed. From there, the reception was filled with dancing and joy.
Thank you Mr. and Mrs. McCallay for allowing us to be a part of your big day! It was truly a joy to work with you and your family. We wish you love and a long marriage. If this is any indication of how 2017 will go, I'm more excited than ever!
